Director of HIM and Coding:
In this role, you will provide the vision, leadership, development, operational, and fiscal management for the regional Health Information Management (HIM) services which includes Coding, Medical Transcription, Release of Information, Tumor Registry and Disclosure Accounting, Health Record File Services, Document Imaging, and Inpatient/ASC Medical Records. You will also develop, define, and execute project plans and will be accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics, integrity, and performance.
Candidate Qualifications:
At least five years of experience at a middle management or director level position in a large managed care organization; seven years of experience preferred
A bachelor’s degree in HIM, health care administration, business, related field, or equivalent combination of knowledge or experience
American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) membership and a current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
The ability to strategically plan and prioritize HIM with limited resources
Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary health information practices in a large health care setting
Thorough knowledge of sound business practices and management principles and techniques (e.g. financial management, strategic planning, personnel management and asset management)
Knowledge of all state, federal, and regulatory agency standards, laws, rules, and regulations with application to health information management including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
The ability to make presentations to various professional and public groups in formal, informal, and impromptu situations
